The Honorable Barack Obama
President of the United States
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President:

I write to call upon you to appoint a high ranking military official to oversee the implementation of each aspect of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action negotiated between the P5+1 and Iran, regarding nuclear capabilities, should this agreement enter into force.

Iran must understand that both America and the international community intend to ensure compliance at any cost.  The appointment of a high-ranking and respected military official to work in consultation with the Department of State, the National Security Council, and the Department of Energy as the various elements of this deal are put into practice will demonstrate our unwavering commitment to guaranteeing that Iran never becomes a nuclear weapons state.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.  I look forward to your prompt response.

                                                              Sincerely,

                                                             Alcee L. Hastings
                                                             Member of Congress

Congressman Alcee L. Hastings serves as Senior Member of the House Rules Committee, Ranking Democratic Member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Co-Chairman of the Florida Delegation.
