Representative Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) and Representative Robert Dold (R-IL) have introduced H.Res.130 to combat the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe. This is the companion to S.Res.87, legislation authored and introduced by Senator Robert Menendez’s (D-NJ). (Please find attached a copy of the resolution):
“Today, the prevalence of Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism across our globe is once again on the rise. All one needs to do is look across Europe to see this disturbing trend,” said Hastings. “We must stand with the Jewish community in Europe and demand that our European allies work diligently and without delay to confront and put an end to these heinous acts. Blind hatred has no place in our world, and each of us has the responsibility to make our own communities safer and a more tolerant place to live,” Hastings further noted.
“In the past year, we have witnessed a dramatic surge in anti-Semitic incidents across Europe, including the January murders of four Jewish customers at a kosher supermarket in Paris. I am pleased to lead on this important resolution which encourages our European friends to counter this disturbing trend while also committing the United States to assist in every way possible. We must shine a bright spotlight on anti-Semitism in order to end indifference and root out the hateful ideology any time it rears its ugly head,” added Dold.
