Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) released the following statement after the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated the ancient city of Hebron a “Palestinian World Heritage Site" "in Danger”:

"Once again UNESCO has adopted an anti-Semitic and revisionist resolution seeking to write Jewish religion and culture out of world history. This biased resolution, notably adopted by secret ballot, is delusional. It does nothing to positively improve the lives of the Palestinian people. Jewish ties to Hebron are irrefutable, and no UN resolution, however backwards or prejudiced, will ever change that. There is no need for divisiveness in the home of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that are revered by Jews, Christians, and Muslims."

Congressman Alcee L. Hastings serves as Senior Member of the House Rules Committee, Ranking Democratic Member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Co-Chairman of the Florida Delegation.
