Today, Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) made the following statement announcing that Mr. Eduardo Pantoja is the winner of the 2019 Annual Congressional Art Competition for Florida’s 20th Congressional District:
“I’m pleased to recognize Mr. Eduardo Pantoja for winning the 2019 Annual Congressional Art Competition,” said Hastings. “I commend Eduardo for his talent and dedication and could not be more proud to have his outstanding artwork represent Florida’s 20th Congressional District.
“Eduardo’s winning photography entry is titled “Dripping Thoughts” and will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol over the coming year. Eduardo is currently a junior at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs, Florida. He is the treasurer for his school’s art club. In addition to winning the Congressional Art Competition, Eduardo traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend today’s unveiling ceremony hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives.”
The Congressional Art Competition provides an opportunity for young artists to display their talent and creativity, promoting the importance of art education in our schools. Since its inception in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated in the competition. Any student attending a school located in Florida’s 20th Congressional District is qualified to participate. Paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed-media, computer generated art, and photography are eligible for submission in to the competition.
