Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) released the following statement on the passing of Seminole Tribe of Florida Fire Chief Donald DiPetrillo of coronavirus-related complications:

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Seminole Tribe of Florida Fire Chief Donald DiPetrillo. A respected pillar of the Davie community, Fire Chief DiPetrillo always worked with a great deal of professionalism in all that he did and was a source of true leadership for the entire Seminole Tribe Fire Department. Our first responders are our heroes, and Fire Chief DiPetrillo will be remembered as a hero for his bravery and many accomplishments throughout the course of over five decades of service. My thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Lindy, mother Joan, son Tyson, his brothers, and the entire Davie community, during this time of great sadness and loss.”

Congressman Alcee L. Hastings serves as Vice-Chairman of the House Rules Committee, Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, and Co-Chairman of the Florida Delegation.
